The Dia:Beacon Museum in Beacon, New York is well worth a visit. It has almost 300,000 square feet of exhibit space housed in a former Nabisco biscuit factory with 34,000 square feet of skylights. The vast of amount of breathing space and daylight makes for a meditative and inspiring visit to the minds of Louise Bourgeois, Dan Flavin, Richard Serra and Andy Warhol, among others. It's one of the most beautiful art spaces I've never seen. However, don't expect to be able to document any part of your visit photographically as cameras (still or video) are not permitted inside any of the exhibition spaces. I suggest bringing a sketchbook. Or a spy camera.
